“Dr. Melrose is an amazing resource for anyone who works with children. Her knowledge on stress and trauma and how it affects the brain in children is limitless. She takes very complex issues that are valuable in everyday experiences for parents, educators and children and she boils them down to very understandable terms. We highly recommend her books and her lectures for parents and teachers.”

“…Dr. Melrose brings an extremely high level of expertise and knowledge that was evident from the moment she began and carried through until the end. She presents information that is backed by solid scientific research and communicates it in a way that ensures comprehension by her audience. In addition to her proficiency, Dr. Melrose speaks from the heart. Her passion and charisma is palpable and invites her listeners to feel the words she is speaking. This combination of irrefutable brain research and undeniable enthusiasm makes it virtually impossible to be in the audience and not be completely attentive and mesmerized by the information and anecdotes she is sharing.
I can honestly say that I have never attended a workshop that has been so well received and had such a profound effect on my own personal practice as well as that of other professionals and paraprofessionals within the Lester B. Pearson School Board. I recommend Dr. Melrose wholeheartedly and without reservation and feel certain that her presentation will be enlightening for any audience fortunate enough to hear her…”

“…Regalena Melrose Ph.D. is one of the most dynamic and impressive speakers that I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. In June 2007, while attending the National Association of School Nurses Conference, I participated in an hour long break out session on dealing with children who are victims of traumatic experiences. From the moment Dr. Melrose began leading the session, the entire audience was riveted on her. Everyone in that room could identify with the scenarios that she described, and we were all hungry to hear more about how we could help these children. It was obvious from the beginning that, not only does she “get it”, she knows how to give that expertise to us. She can explain her techniques in a way that we can understand and utilize. Not one of the 200 plus school nurses in that room wanted to leave when that hour was up. This is truly the mark of a speaker who obviously cares passionately for her work and her clients…”

“…When I was asked by my employer to go to Dr. Melrose’s presentation, I was not exactly excited about going to another workshop or presentation. With that said, from the onset, I was taken by the energy and presence that Dr. Melrose exuded as she progressed through the talk. She was engaging, upbeat, and extremely passionate about her topic. More importantly, she was knowledgeable. She seamlessly combined the research and practices regarding trauma and the brain with children that were struggling within our educational system. Dr. Melrose provided numerous examples of real life children to elucidate her points regarding the effects of trauma on the brain and how these may affect children in school settings. Although some of Dr. Melrose’s perspectives were different from my own, I could not help but think how much sense they made.

As a presenter, one cannot help but be inspired by Dr. Melrose’s energy, personality, and intelligence. Her presentation was well-organized, thoughtful and practical. She provided information that was empirically-based and useful to both educators and practitioners. Dr. Melrose invited discussion from her audience and engaged them in learning-centered discussions. She is one of those special people that make our field better…”
